Upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro

Posted on November 13, 2018 By

Today I want to speak about upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.

Why you should need something like that?

In my case was simply an error: I reinstalled Windows 10 in my old PC with the wrong product key. Only later I realized that was a Windows 10 Home product key…. But do not despair! There is a simple way to solve the problem (of course you must have a valid Windows 10 Pro product key!).

Follow this steps:

Open the Windows control panel and click “System”:

Windows 10 control panel

In the following window click “Change product key”:

System
You will first asked if you want to make change to your device and then will appear the following window where you will have to insert your new Windows 10 Pro product key:

Product Key

After entered the new product key press Next. Since you are moving from Home to Pro, Windows will ask that your system will be upgraded with the installation of new functionalities. Simply confirm and wait for the installation to be completed.
